It looks like Old Man Winter has finally decided to give up and Spring is actually making its way to North Iowa and across the country. Outdoor activity will be increasing including service and construction not to mention more cars on the road. Whether we are working at our jobs or around our homes, we must all stay vigilant to work safely as well as efficiently and to only use tools for their intended purposes. Taking unsafe short cuts or trying to get creative in our use of available tools to perform jobs can often lead to injuries to ourselves as well as others. Ask yourself how many times you have injured yourself or had a close call while doing something that in the back of your mind you know is unwise? Diligence is the friend of Safety, negligence and complacency are enemies.
Think Safe, Work Safe, Be Safe.
Have a great Summer!
It’s hard to believe that Memorial Weekend is upon us. It wasn’t long ago we were still staring at the cold, white snow wondering if Mother Nature would ever let us enjoy Spring. It’s nice to finally know that the weekend that traditionally kicks off summer is finally here and hopefully we can enjoy all that it has in store for us, including graduation celebrations, barbeques, parades and parties.
But Memorial Day isn’t just about the start of the summer season and graduation parties. The true meaning behind this weekend is so much more. It is a time for us to stop and reflect. It’s a time to honor all the men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It’s a time for all of us to pay homage to those who have fought so hard to protect this country and our freedoms.
Memorial Day was originally know as Decoration Day to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War, and has since transitioned into a day we remember all that have died serving. So before you fire up your barbeque this weekend, take a moment to reflect and remember all those people who have paid the ultimate price for us to have our freedoms. Visit your area cemeteries and take the time to decorate the graves of those who have served this country, honor the fallen.
In honor of the brave men and women who have given their lives for this country…. Celebrate Memorial Day.
This was our theme for the CONEXPO/CONAGG 2014 trade show and will remain a key message for Stellar throughout 2014. So, what does “It’s All About Uptime” mean to our customers. Well, first, let’s recognize that it is not just a slogan or a great catch phrase. It means something to us and to our customers. Since our beginning, Stellar has developed product with the focus on helping customers be more productive. I can remember when our first telescopic crane development began, we committed ourselves to changing the way operators understood telescopic service cranes. We knew we could provide a product that would change the way people thought of mechanics service cranes. We invested in technology like planetary winches, radio remote controls, advanced hexagonal boom designs, and two stage internal extension systems to really bring value to the end user. Our focus was not to be the cheapest, but to be the best. We just knew that if we could fundamentally improve the productivity of our end users, that they would in turn improve the productivity of their customer. When a mechanic using a Stellar® crane can do a job faster and more efficiently than a competitive product, we knew customers would see the value at the end of the day. And they did! This is why “It’s All About Uptime!”
Today, we are on the verge of another great leap in control technology. The Stellar® CDTplus™ equipment control system will allow operators to know their ability to lift a load via an LCD screen on their handheld radio controller. This is a huge “Uptime” productivity improvement. Operators will be able to place a crane hook over a load and know instantly what the capacity of the crane will be in that location. Plus, it will be able to tell you how much further you can move that load. We at Stellar are confident that customers will see the value in this addition to our product line, and will continue to move towards Stellar as their preferred supplier of telescopic service cranes.
Please watch our website for updates on the rollout dates for our new Stellar® CDTplus™ Control System as well as the new TMAX Series of bodies.
Stellar Industries, Inc. will be holding our Annual Shareholders meeting on April 24. This meeting will be held at our Stellar corporate offices at 190 State Street in Garner at 4:00pm. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm. All shareholders and Stellar ESOP participants are welcome to attend.
This meeting will be quite different than annual meetings of the past. In November of last year, the Stellar ESOP released a tender offer to purchase shares from stockholders. Many of these shareholders had been early investors in Stellar Industries. The tender offer was very successful for our ESOP. As a result of the tender, the Stellar ESOP was able to increase their percentage ownership of our company from under 27% to just over 40%.
Stellar Industries prides itself on the skilled workforce we are blessed to have throughout our organization. With increased ownership of the corporation, Stellar employees through their ESOP shares will continue to positively impact the future growth and profitablity of their company by continuing to design and build the most innovative and highest quality products for their respective markets.
You may have heard we’ve been busy with trade shows and will continue to be busy with trade shows until the end of April. We recently wrapped up two major shows, The NTEA Work Truck Show and the CONEXPO-CON/AGG show. We’ve got some great information to share from each show.
1. We held our 10th Annual Distributor Meeting at the NTEA Work Truck Show, and it was a success. We had a great turn out even with the bad weather that was experienced in Indianapolis the first week of March. We introduced the new 3315 and 4421 cranes to our distribution at the meeting, as well as shared information about some of our other product lines we offer.
2. CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 was one of our most successful trades shows ever! The new products we featured were very well received. If the statistics from the show are any indication, the market appears to be headed in the right direction.
We’ve created a landing page on our site specifically for the new products that we unveiled at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG Trade Show that can be found here. http://www.stellarindustries.com/conexpo2014/
Also, here are a few pictures we captured from the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show, have a peek at all the great stuff we had to show off!
Our red mechanic trucks were a big hit!
Cessna Aircraft featured one of our cranes in their booth. They use our cranes for their mobile service.
Here’s a picture of the inside booth.
We also had a one of our OTR 17,000’s on display in the Kenworth booth.
We were also represented in the Ford booth! Chris did an awesome job taking over the booth to represent Stellar.
