Service Technician

Summary: The position of Service Technician will involve daily mechanical tasks as well as trouble shoot and diagnose issues with customer owned vehicles and trailers. The mechanic will install parts using electrical and mechanical tools as well as being responsible to follow detailed instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• Be capable of performing all aspects of the Truck Assembly area and working with other employees as part of a team.

• Willingness to take direction from area supervision and follow that direction.

• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.

• Required to complete an internal assembly-training program and perform assembly operations as part of job responsibilities.

• May be required to complete an internal welder-training program and perform weld operations as part of job responsibilities.

• Have the ability and desire to become efficient with mechanical equipment and learn all aspects of job as required.

• Continually demonstrates a productive and non-disruptive work ethic.

• Works in such a way as to create no or limited scrap or rework and works to continually improve quality level.

• Follows all company safety rules as laid out in the company safety manual and all other company policies.

• Maintain company equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

• Regular attendance required.

• Continually strive to improve in all aspects of job requirements.

• Read blueprints and other documents

• Have mechanical skills

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Degree or GED required

• BA or BS degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Automotive Service Technology degree helpful but not required.

Technical Skills:

• Have a good working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical wiring, welding and metal fabrication.

• Understanding of shop tools and functions and the ability to instruct employees on safe and proper use.

• Familiar with the use of volt ohmmeter, high voltage tester, tachometer, heat sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic flow and pressure meters.

• Ability to instruct and advise on basic hydraulic truck equipment trouble shooting, repair and installation. Training on specific equipment may be needed and made available.
