How One Stellar^® Hooklift Replaced Three Trucks for North State Environmental

North State Environmental, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, provides environmental and civil services ranging from stream and wetlands restoration to roadways and bridges. Stellar Hooklifts Handle Any Job 

Before choosing the right work truck for the business, Westmoreland conducted a considerable amount of research. “Stellar really stood out,” he notes. “It’s a stronger, smoother mechanized machine. The way it’s upfitted on the trucks, the way it works, it just seemed to be better than the other folks out there.”

North State Environmental covers a variety of jobs, and their Stellar NXT68 Hooklift is part of each one. The company primarily uses the hooklift with standard tub containers for jobsite pickup and steel beds that can be configured for a range of applications. Multiple D-rings on the steel beds help secure heavy tracked equipment for transport, while hydroseeders and straw blowers can be mounted to the beds for remediation projects. 

As Westmoreland says, “The productivity comes from the fact that we can just go out, pick up a piece of equipment, haul it to a job, and then change out beds and go do something else with that truck. We aren’t limited to just a flatbed truck or a rollback-type system. The hooklift really does give us versatility and helps with the production because we do multiple things with the same truck.”

Westmoreland explains that safety and convenience also play important roles. “We can load or unload a piece of equipment that can’t really handle the steep rollers or ramps on some trailers. The truck drivers like it because they can set the bed down on the ground and load safely. They’re not trying to drive up a big ramp. Being able to set the bed on the ground makes it easier for that.”
