Craftsmanship in Engineering and Beyond

Terry Rowland has been a Design Engineer at Stellar’s Galion, Ohio, location for over eight years. With over 45 years of engineering experience, he has designed a wide range of specialized truck bodies, including water, fuel and lube trucks, delivering innovative solutions that align with customers’ needs and expectations.

Rowland began working for Elliott Machine Works in 2018 and was excited to be a part of the Stellar team when Elliott was acquired by Stellar in 2024. “There is a lot of continued assistance doing things more productively and cost-effectively,” says Rowland, highlighting the strong company transition.

As part of the Design Engineering team, Rowland helps expand and diversify Stellar’s product line. He describes it as especially rewarding to watch a project come to life and see the finished truck roll out, knowing he played a role in building it. “Designing a product that gets used everywhere and seeing it being used is the most rewarding part of my job,” Rowland says.

Outside of his outstanding career at Stellar, Rowland continues a small family business that has been around for decades. As he enters into retirement, he’s excited to grow the broom-making business. Inspired by his great-grandfather, also a broom maker, Rowland uses traditional methods to craft modern brooms like the ones seen in today’s homes. Rowland sells his products at a variety of heritage shows within the community, something he truly enjoys.

“Success to me is to be able to help others along the way, whether it be on the job or in my personal life,” said Rowland, reflecting on how he’s grown both professionally and personally through his work and his business.
