Committed to the Community

Family values and community involvement are the common thread between Mitch Horstman’s role at Stellar and his involvement with the Garner Fire Department. “Being a part of two organizations that care so deeply about the growth and success of this community is something special to be a part of,” says Horstman.
Horstman has been a member of the Stellar team for more than 17 years, building his career within the Engineering department. He first joined Stellar as a high school intern, where he developed an appreciation for the company’s innovative mindset and commitment to improvement. Then, after graduating from Iowa State University, he accepted a full-time position. Today, he serves as Engineering Lead – Garner/Kanawha Sustaining, providing engineering support and identifying innovative growth solutions for Stellar and its employee-owners. “It’s rewarding to work through challenges and help others accomplish their goals along the way,” says Horstman.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Horstman is actively involved in several company-wide committees, including the Future Industry Leaders Association, where he contributes to initiatives that support both employee development and the future success of the organization.
“I’m proud to be part of an employee-owned company because everyone has a shared investment in our success. I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow here and appreciate being part of a team that values innovation while honoring the strong history that built our company.”
Alongside his accomplished career at Stellar, Horstman recently joined the Garner Fire Department. The experience has fostered a deeper appreciation for the critical role first responders play in rural communities. “One lesson I’ve gained from training is to focus on the present because life can change faster than you expect,” Horstman says.
Inspired by the importance of giving back and Stellar’s strong commitment to community involvement, Horstman exemplifies leadership, commitment and community spirit by contributing to something larger than himself.
