Todd Nash, a Continuous Improvement Technician, is a proud employee-owner at Stellar and the owner of Spare Time Lanes, a bowling alley in Belmond, IA. With an entrepreneur mindset, he works to support all employees at Stellar as well as support the community where he lives and works.

Coming out of retirement to join the Stellar team in 2023, Nash first started his journey in the Fabrication department. He recently switched roles and joined the Continuous Improvement team to support employees and drive production excellence. In this role, Nash works with the Kanawha team to find efficient solutions to issues that arise to make jobs easier, safer and faster. “One thing that makes Stellar a great place to work is that we prioritize finding new solutions while supporting employee-owners because when we improve ourselves and our practices, everyone in the company benefits,” said Nash.

As Stellar adapts to changing market conditions, it’s important to identify and implement new initiatives that drive long-term success. The “Ideas Board” that Nash and the improvement team created in Kanawha is a resource employees can use when they see an advancement that could be made to the workflow. “It’s important that employees have a voice, and it’s my job to understand their needs, address them, collaborate with other locations and deliver solutions to the team,” said Nash.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Continuing with the ownership mentality, Nash has been the owner of the bowling alley Spare Time Lanes for over 18 years. He took on this role not only because he enjoys the sport, but also to continue the legacy of the bowling alley. After making some improvements to the lanes, he is proud to offer a fun place that is a staple for the small town community. Besides weekly league nights at the alley, teams have represented Spare Time Lanes at the state and national tournaments.

“It’s a very rewarding part of my job to see Belmond’s name competing on a big stage,” says Nash. “Taking 14 teams to compete is a huge accomplishment and shows how much bowling means to this community.” He truly enjoys what he does for the community and shares that it’s not about the money, but about being happy with where you are and who is supporting you. 

Nash is a proud employee-owner at Stellar and brings that same sense of pride and dedication to the way he runs the bowling alley. He shares that each day can bring new challenges, but the best reward comes from the sense of accomplishment he feels when supporting fellow employee-owners or customers at Spare Time Lanes.
