Embracing Every Opportunity

For the past 11 years, Alex Flick has embraced every opportunity that has come her way inside and outside of Stellar Industries. What started as a front desk role quickly transitioned into a career focused on Human Resources, tracking metrics, troubleshooting issues, and being involved in larger HR initiatives. Throughout her personal and professional career, she has learned the value of stepping out of her comfort zone and saying “yes” to even the smallest tasks.
After graduating from Southern Illinois University, Flick’s career started as a Vet Technician before finding her way into Human Resources. Joining Stellar in 2015, she started as an HR coordinator, spending time in both HR and finance. Through these roles, Flick developed a strong interest in HR technology and began focusing on employee metrics, data and the ways technology can improve the employee experience.
As she continued to grow within the company, Flick became increasingly involved in tracking employee metrics and collaborating with business partners across Stellar. These experiences ultimately led her to her current role as Stellar’s HR Technology Analyst, where she combines her HR knowledge and passion for technology to help support the organization and its employees.
Flick carries this mindset beyond work and onto her generational family farm. Growing up with horses and having an Animal Science background, Flick was eager to keep the farm active when she learned it would be left empty.
Nearly 10 years later, she has found unique ways to combine her passion for animals with helping others. After noticing the growing popularity of goat milk products, she purchased goats and started her own goat milk soap business, which is now sold in 10 stores across North Iowa. Her passion for animals also led her to support local 4-H students, sharing her knowledge and giving them opportunities to show animals at county fairs.
“I decided to take on this opportunity with the 4-H students and have been doing it for 6 years now. Teaching students is very rewarding for me. I started making the soap, which led me to make connections with local 4-H students, and found the value in helping them reach their goals no matter their experience level,” says Flick.
She also gives North Iowa families opportunities to experience the farm through seasonal events, including Spring Books and Baby Goats, where children can read to baby goats, and Goat-Tober Fest, which brings families together for games and activities each October.

Over the past decade, Flick has watched Stellar grow through acquisitions and evolve into a 100% employee-owned company. “The one thing that sticks out to me the most about Stellar is that even though we have evolved and changed for the better throughout the years, the core roots and values of Stellar are still the same,” says Flick.
Here at Stellar, we pride ourselves on our people, our values, and our commitment to creating opportunities for growth. Flick’s journey is a great example of how being open to change, embracing new opportunities, and staying true to your values can lead to a rewarding career.
“What stands out most about my time at Stellar is the opportunity to grow. I’ve been able to take on challenges, build new skills, and contribute in ways I never would have imagined when I started.” Learn more about a career at Stellar.
