Responsibilities

Stellar Industries Inc. is looking for a team member to analyze, develop and manage solutions to our transportation systems.  This person will be familiar with shipping regulations and any information that could impact the transport of goods. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency.
  • Monitor supply chain-based performance systems.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports and exports, and issues.
  • Participate in carrier management processes such as selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.
  • Monitor product import and export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery.
  • Negotiate transportation rates and services with outside companies– this will include working with a 3PL, Contracted Companies, Small Parcel Management, Customs Brokers, Suppliers, Customers, ETC.
  • Managing communication with suppliers to arrange transportation of orders.
  • Managing communication with customers to arrange transportation of orders.
  • Assist in managing the driver compliance program to meet DOT requirements.
  • Work with other departments to integrate logistics with current business systems and processes – such as sales, order management, accounting, and shipping.
  • Analyze proposed financial impact to alter routing, shipping modes, or carriers.
  • Assist in managing shipments for all locations including inter-company transfers.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business Management, Industrial Technology, etc.)
  • Experience with transportation management in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2+ years of logistics experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, ERP, and working knowledge of logistics management software.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing needs of production or customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to reach logical, responsible, and timely decisions.
  • Ensures activities are accomplished by awareness of objectives, anticipation of contingencies, and utilization of available resources as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet timelines and prioritize work requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments and circumstances.
